Police searching for a 24-year-old Syrian woman who went missing a week ago have found a body on a woodland path in Almere.
The woman was last seen on August 7 getting into a car with a 34-year-old Syrian man outside the Albert Heijn supermarket in Olivier van Noortstraat, close to the spot where the body was found on Thursday evening.
Police believe she was the victim of a crime and have put out an urgent appeal for sightings of the man, named as Omar A., and the car, a grey Peugeot 307 with the registration number 36-LH-RN.
The body was found by a passer-by on the Homeruspad, just north of the Almere Poort neighbourhood. She has not been officially identified but police believe it is the body of the missing Syrian woman.
