Police have asked the organisers of a music festival to help them trace witnesses to a fatal motorway accident that happened just after the event finished.

The collision on the A12 at Bunnik happened just before midnight on Sunday, July 27, just as thousands of people were leaving the Orbit electronic music festival at Fort bij Vechten.

A 31-year-old woman was left seriously injured when two cars collided at the intersection of the A12 and A27 heading towards The Hague.

She later died in hospital from her injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle, a 46-year-old man from Wijk bij Duurstede, was arrested.

One witness told police she saw the crash while she was driving home from Orbit. At the request of police organisers then sent an e-mail to ticket holders asking if they could help with the investigation.

Police would not say if they had received any replies on grounds of privacy.
